MASOLO ang ikatlong puwesto ang pagtatalunan ng Far Eastern University Tamaraws at Adamson University Soaring Falcons habang unang panalo ang hangad ng University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers at University of the East Red Warriors sa UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament ngayon sa Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

Magsasagupa ganap na alas-2 ng hapon ang Growling Tigers at Red Warriors na kapwa wala pang naitatalang panalo sa anim na laro bago sundan ng importanteng salpukan sa pagitan ng Tamaraws at Soaring Falcons na magkasalo sa ikatlong puwesto sa ganap na alas-4 ng hapon.

Huling nabigo ang Red Warriors sa Soaring Falcons, 100-106, habang ang Growling Tigers ay natalo sa kamay ng nagtatanggol na kampeong De La Salle University Green Archers, 86-115.

Sariwa naman ang FEU sa tatlong sunod na panalo kontra sa UST, National University Bulldogs at pinakahuli kontra University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 78-59, para mapaangat ang kanilang kabuuang kartada sa 4-2 panalo-talo.

Tatlong diretsong panalo rin ang naitala ng Adamson sa pagwawagi nito kontra NU, UE at panghuli sa UP, 73-71.

Aasahan naman ng Red Warriors ang nasa ikalawang taon lamang nito na si Alvin Pasaol na nagtala ng bagong rekord sa liga sa pagkamada ng pinakamataas na 49 puntos upang lampasan ang 15-taong rekord ng ngayon ay head coach ng Letran na si Jeff Napa ng NU noong Agosto 22, 2002.
