3 NBA veteran sasabak sa PBA Commissioner’s Cup

TATLONG lehitimong beterano sa National Basketball Association (NBA) ang kabilang sa anim na baguhang import na masusubok kontra naman sa anim na magbabalik para mapalakas ang dating koponan sa pagsambulat ng 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup ngayong Biyernes sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ang tatlong lehitimong NBA veteran ay sina Sean Williams ng Globalport Batang Pier, Alex Stepheson ng Meralco Bolts at Greg Smith ng Blackwater Elite.

Ang ibang baguhan ay sina Octavius Ellis ng Alaska Aces, Charles Rhodes ng San Miguel Beermen at Tony Mitchell ng Star Hotshots.

Ang anim na balik-import ay sina Justin Brownlee ng Barangay Ginebra, James White ng Mahindra Floodbusters, Eugene Phelps ng Phoenix Fuel Masters, Wayne Chism ng NLEX Road Warriors, Shawn Taggart ng Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at Denzel Bowles ng TNT KaTropa.

Napili bilang No. 17 overall pick ng New Jersey Nets si Williams noong 2007 bago naglaro sa Dallas Mavericks at Boston Celtics.

Si Smith ay naglaro naman sa Houston Rockets, Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves mula 2012 hanggang 2016.

Dati naman miyembro ang 29-anyos na si Stepheson ng Los Angeles Clippers at Memphis Grizzlies.

Impresibo rin ang 23-anyos na si Ellis na mula Trinity Valley Community College matapos kilalanin sa First Team All-America ng National Junior College Athletic Association.

Ang may taas na 6-foot-10 na si Ellis at ang 6-foot-8 na si White ay ang mga pinakabatang imports.

Nakatakdang magharap ang Mahindra at Meralco sa unang laro ganap na alas-4:15 ng hapon bago sundan ng defending champion Rain or Shine na idedepensa ang korona kontra NLEX sa alas-7 ng gabi.
