Altas balik sa finals ng NCAA men’s volleyball

BINURA ng nagtatanggol na kampeong Perpetual Help ang dalawang set na kalamangan ng San Beda para manalo, 18-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17 at 15-11 at makabalik sa men’s division finals kahapon sa pagpapatuloy ng 92nd NCAA volleyball tournament sa FilOil Flying V Center, San Juan, Metro Manila.
Ang Altas ay binuhat ng power-hitter na si Rey Taneo, Jr. na nanguna sa pagtala ng match-best 29 hits na halos lahat ay ginawa nito sa huling tatlong sets.
“We didn’t give up, that’s the most important thing,” sabi ni Perpetual Help coach Sammy Acaylar.
Nagdagdag si Manuel Doliente ng 12 puntos habang si Esmail Kasim ay may 10 upang tulungan ang Las Piñas-based spikers sa panalo.
Ang panalo ay nagtulak sa Perpetual Help sa ikaanim nitong finals appearance sa nakalipas na pitong taon at lumapit sa pagwawagi sa ikalawang sunod na korona at ikaanim na kampeonato sa NCAA men’s volleyball.
Makakasagupa ng Perptual Help sa finals ang St. Benilde na nanaig kontra Arellano University, 27-25, 25-20 at 25-14, sa kanilang Final Four men’s match.

Sa juniors division, nanatiling buhay ang tsansa ng Perpetual Help sa finals matapos na manalo kontra Emilio Aguinaldo College, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19, kahapon. —Angelito Oredo
