SA napakadalang na pagkakataon ay nagpahinga muna si Pangulong Duterte sa mga banat at mura sa kanyang talumpati at binasa na lamang ang inihandang speech sa kanya bago tumulak kahapon papuntang Hanoi, Vietnam.
“Tamad akong magsalita… Basahin… May basahin diyan? Basahin ko na lang ‘yung iyo. Ganon man lang ‘yan,” ani Duterte bago magtalumpati.
Aniya, bibisita siya sa Vietnam dahil sa imbitasyon ni President Tran Dai Quang.
“On this introductory visit to Hanoi, I look forward to renewing the ties of friendship between the Philippines and Vietnam and affirm the commitment to work closer to achieve shared goals for our countries and peoples,” sabi niya.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na inaasahan na matatalakay ang isyu ng West Philippine Sea sa biyahe ni Duterte sa Vietnam.
“Upon my return, I will report on the accomplishment of what we may gain, particularly in the key bilateral issues impacting our relations,” dagdag niya.
Kabilang sina Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano at Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero sa opisyal na delegasyon ni Duterte.
