Isa pang dawit sa NBN deal inabsuwelto ng korte

     Ibinasura ng Sandiganbayan Fifth Division ang kasong graft laban kay dating National Economic and Development Authority Director General Romulo Neri kaugnay ng National Broadband Network deal sa ilalim ng Arroyo government.      Inaprubahan ng korte ang Demurrer to Evidence na inihain ni Neri na nangangahulugan na kulang ang ebidensya ng prosekusyon upang mapatunayan ang alegasyon.      “Here, we find the evidence of the prosecution insufficient to sustain the charges or justify a verdict of guilt. The prosecution failed to discharge the burden of proving that accused Neri violated Section 3(h) of the Republic Act 3019 (graft) by proof beyond reasonable doubt for its failure to satisfactorily establish that said accused had financial or pecuniary interest, directly or indirectly, in the subject NBN-ZTE deal,” saad ng desisyon.      Ang kaso ay kaugnay ng pagpayag umano ni Neri sa overpriced na NBN project ng gobyerno na napunta sa ZTE Corp.       Mula 2006 hanggang 2007, nakikipagtanghalian at nakikipaglaro umano ng golf si Neri kay dating Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr., at mga opisyal ng ZTE. Sa panahong ito ay pinag-aaralan ng NEDA ang proyekto.       Sa imbestigasyon ng Senado, sinabi ni Neri na sinabihan siya ni Abalos ng ‘Sec may P200 ka dito” na itinuturing umanong suhol, ayon sa mga kritiko ng Arroyo government.      Dahil sa kontrobersya ay hindi na itinuloy ang proyekto. 30
