Duterte sinabing igagalang ang desisyon ng Indonesia kaugnay ng kaso ni Veloso

SINABI ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na igagalang niya ang desisyon ng korte ng Indonesia kaugnay ng kaso ng Pinay drug convict na si Mary Jane Veloso.
“We will respect the judgment of your court. Period,” sabi ni Duterte, habang inaalala ang kanilang pag-uusap ni Indonesian President Jokowi Widodo matapos ang kanyang opisyal visit sa Indonesia noong isang linggo.
Iginiit pa ni Duterte na hindi niya direktang tinukoy kay Widodo ang kaso ni Veloso.
“It could have been a bad taste in the mouth to be talking about it having a strong posture against drugs. And here you are, talking for something,” dagdag ni Duterte.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Widodo na nagbigay ng go signal si Duterte para bitayin na si Veloso.
“It’s good that you have a death penalty here. At least, you can bring it down to the barest minimum,” dagdag pa ni Duterte kaugnay ng kanilang pakikipag-usap kay Widodo.

Sinabi naman ni Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella na aapela ang Pilipinas ng clemency para kay Veloso.

“When the Indonesian Supreme Court decides to act on the execution, that would be the time to present the compelling evidence of Veloso’s innocence as a justification for a plea of clemency,” sabi ni Abella.
