Treasurer ng Laoag City lumipad ng Hawaii matapos ang pagkawala ng P85-M

PINAGHAHANAP na ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Laoag City ang treasurer nito na si Elena Asuncion matapos ang pagkawala ng P85 milyon mula sa kaban ng lungsod.
Lumipad palabas ng bansa si Asuncion noong Martes sakay ng Philippine Airlines jet na papuntang Hawaii, matapos namang maghain ng petisyon para maglabas ng hold departure order laban sa opisyal, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration Office sa Ilocos Norte.
Huling nakita si Asuncion na dumadalo sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan ngunit nakaalis na ito bago pa man isilbi ni Laoag City Mayor Chevylle Fariñas ang pagsibak sa kanyan matapos madiskubre ang nawawalang pera sa account ng lokal na pamahalaan.
Nakikipagtulungan na Provincial Treasury Office sa isang grupo na ipinadala ng Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), na dumating kahapon para imbestigahan ang nawawalang pera.
Sinabi ng abogadong si Marlon Wayne Manuel, legal officer ng lungsod na magsasagawa rin ng hiwalay na imbestigasyon ang Commission on Audit (COA).
