Tax Court ipinaaaresto si director Carlo J. Caparas
IPINAG-UTOS ng Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) ang pag-aresto sa film director na si Carlo J. Caparas sa harap ng mga bagong kaso ng tax evasion na inihain ng Department of Justice (DOJ) laban sa kanya noong isang buwan.
Nagpalabas ng warrant of arrest ang CTA Second Division kaugnay ng dalawang counts ng tax evasion matapos umanong hindi magsumite si Caparas ng income tax noong 2008 at 2009.
“After personally examining and evaluating the Information, the documents attached thereto and the records of preliminary investigation, the Court finds probable cause for the issuance of a warrant of arrest against the accused,” sabi ng Tax Court.
Inatasan si Caparas na magpiyansa ng P20,000 para sa kada isang count ng tax evasion.
Bukod sa dalawang count ng tax evasion, dinidinig din ang hiwalay na tax evasion laban kay Caparas kaugnay naman ng hindi umano pagbabayad ng buwis mula 2006 hanggang 2009 kung saan umabot ng P101.8 milyon ang kabuuang halaga ng hindi binayarang buwis.
