Paeng Nepomuceno itinalagang head coach ng PH bowling team

MATAPOS ang mahabang kumbinsihan ay inaasahan na ang muling pag-angat ng sport na bowling sa bansa matapos na tuluyang sumang-ayon ang Guinness Book of World Records holder at world multi-titled bowler na si Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno upang maging national coach ng Philippine bowling team.

Napag-alaman ito mismo kay Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) executive vice-president Steve Robles kung saan isinumite na nito sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) para aprubuhan ang desisyon ng asosasyon at papeles na nagtatalaga kay Nepomuceno bilang bago nitong head coach.

“We hope that with Mr. Nepomuceno in-charge of all our athletes, along with their training and welfare, our sport of bowling will reach a new height,” sabi ni Robles.

Nakatakda rin na ipadala ang desisyon ng PBC sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-NSA Affairs Office matapos lamang itong aprubahan ng POC.

Matatandaan na hinawakan ng POC ang pamamahala ngayon sa asosasyon ng bowling bunga ng kaguluhan matapos na yumao ang dati nitong pangulo at naging national coach at founding president na si Ernesto “Toti” Lopa at ang patuloy na pagbagsak ng kampanya nito sa mga internasyonal at lokal na torneo.

Ibinalik ng POC ang dati nitong presidente na si Steve Hontiveros upang pansamantala nitong pamahalaan ang asosasyon habang unti-unting isinasaayos ang magulong sitwasyon ng mga pambansang atleta.

Sinabi ni Robles na kasalukuyang isinasagawa ng PBC ang tryout kung saan naghahanap ito ng walong lalaki at apat na babae para sa bubuo sa pambansang koponan. Ipinaliwanag ni Robles na sa kasalukuyan ay may lima itong seeded sa babae at dalawa sa lalaki.

“We are having a continuing tryout for our national team as well as juniors team,” sabi ni Robles.

Dalawang malaking torneo naman ang nakatakdang salihan ng PBC na una sa Hulyo at sa Oktubre na Asian Masters.
