UMAPELA kahapon ang EcoWaste Coalition sa Commission on Elections at mga kakandidato na proteksyunan hindi lamang ang mga balota kundi ang kalikasan.
Ayon sa Zero Waste Campaigner na si Tin Vergara dapat bawasan ng mga kandidato ang kanilang basurang lilikhain ngayong eleksyon.
“We need to change the way we conduct our elections as the country’s environment degenerates due to ever increasing resource extraction and pollution from chemicals and wastes,” ani Vergara. Bukod sa 4Gs (guns, goons, gold and garbage), dapat din umanong bantayan ang 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle).
Ipinaalala rin ng EcoWaste ang Resolution No. 9615 ng Comelec na nananawagan sa mga partido at kandidato na gumamit ng recyclable at environment-friendly materials sa kanilang campaign at election paraphernalia.
