Pinoy nurse sa Jeddah nagpositibo sa MERS
NAGPOSITIBO sa Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) ang isang Pinay nurse sa Jeddah, Saudi Arabia dalawang linggo na ang nakakaraan, ayon sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa).
Sa isang ulat ng Radyo Inquirer 990AM, sinabi ni Amelito Adel, welfare officer ng Owwa na nahawaan ng MERS ang Pinoy nurse ng mga pasyenteng ginagamot sa ospital kung saan siya nagtatrabaho.
Kinumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang ulat sa pamamagitan ng Consulate General sa Jeddah.
Tiniyak naman ng DFA na patuloy ang pagbuti ng kondisyon ng nurse.
“After several days of treatment in the intensive care unit, the patient showed good improvement. Laboratory tests for MERS CoV turned positive,” sabi ng DFA.
“She was unhooked from the mechanical ventilator a few days ago and is already breathing on her own. She will probably be taken out of the ICU and transferred to an isolation room in a few days,” ayon pa sa DFA.
