WALANG balak si Pangulong Aquino na pumunta sa burol ng kapatid ni dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo na si Arturo Macapagal.
Ayon kay Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) head Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma, sapat na ang ipinaabot na pakikiramay ng Palasyo sa pamilya ni Macapagal.
“I think my statement yesterday expressing sympathy to the Macapagal family is sufficient,” sabi ni Coloma.
Samantala, nais ni dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo na madagdagan ang araw ng pagpunta niya sa burol at makadalo sa libing ng kanyang kapatid.
Sa kanyang tatlong pahinang mosyon, hiniling ni Arroyo sa Sandiganbayan First Division na payagan siyang makapunta sa burol ngayong araw mula alas-4 ng hapon hanggang 8 ng gabi.
“She lost the opportunity to see him alive one last time when he passed away in the morning of August 10. She was a few hours too late. She could not be there for him in the last few days of his life. She is hoping to be there for him for four additional hours in his death,” saad ng mosyon. “An extra day (an additional four hours) in the company of family in this moment of bereavement will help assuage the terrible pain of losing a brother to a terrible illness.”
Hiniling din niya na makapunta sa libing sa Heritage Park sa Taguig sa Sabado mula alas-9 ng umaga hanggang 2 ng hapon. Nais din niyang makadalo sa pa-siyam ng kapatid sa Agosto 19 mula alas-6 ng gabi—
