Taas-singil sa kuryente nakaamba

KINONDENA ni Anakpawis Rep. Fernando Hicap ang plano ng National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) na singilin sa publiko ang ginastos nito sa pagpapagawa ng mga kable ng kuryente na nasira ng mga nagdaang bagyo.

Binalaan din ni Hicap ang Energy Regulatory Commission na maghinay-hinay sa pag-apruba sa plano ng NGCP, na pagmamay-ari ni Henry Sy Jr., anak ng bilyonaryong si Henry Sy.

“Given the notorious record of the ERC of approving every rate hike petition filed by private power companies, it is very likely that electric power consumers will shoulder another round of increase in transmission charges that will be reflected in our electric bills in the coming months,” ani Hicap.

Nauna nang kinondena ang ERC sa pag-apruba nito sa P4.15/kWh pagtaas sa generation charge. Nais ng NGCP na singilin ang ginastos nito sa pagpapagawa ng transmission towers at substations na nasira ng bagyong Vinta noong 2012, Santi noong 2013 at Yolanda noong Nobyembre.

Sinabi ni Hicap na ang pass on rate na hinihingi ng NGCP ay bukod pa sa P42.5 bilyong maximum allowable revenue na inaprubahan ng ERC.

Naniniwala si Hicap na patuloy ang pagtaas ng presyo ng kuryente dahil kontrolado ito ng iilang kompanya — San Miguel Power Company ng mga Cojuangco, First Gen Power ng Lopez, Meralco ng Pangilinan group at Aboitiz Power Group.
