For her portrayal as Vice Ganda’s mom in “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” ay nabiyayaan ng best actress award si Marya, something which proves that she’s still a force to reckon with when it comes to acting.

Napanood namin ang movie and the challenge for Marya’s character is to convincingly portray it with comic and dramatic flair.
Maricel’s thespic talent is just put to the fore but she acquitted herself maybe because she’s nothing new to the word called VERSATILITY.

Maricel is both a comic and dramatic delight, she’s both heavy and light as her role required. Director Wenn Deramas was able to rise above the challenge of getting Maricel a role that is close to home but is also far away from reality.

The scene where Maricel slapped Vice Ganda and in one moment Joey Marquez forced us to believe that she really does not mess up with reality.

The more na di siya uma-attend, the more na nananalo siya!”

And because of this, kailangang magbayad ng P25,000 si Marya sa MMFF bilang multa sa hindi niya pag-attend sa awards night.
