Now as to Bela, we like her a lot in her solo shots or at least those without Robin. She can held her own against the rest of the cast and we strongly feel that the producers should push her sa best actress category dahil may laban siya kay Mylene and this is the festival na walang strong lead actress roles.
But then, when Bela acts with Robin the same way Cholo and Markki, nau-overwhelm sila and it really shows. They act for the sake of acting so sa subtle performance ni Robin from start to finish, nagmumukha silang overacting.
Forget about her scenes with Robin, Bela gives a strong performance. Bukod sa acting of course, the reason why it was given a grade A from the Cinema Evaluation Board and why it has a strong chance of getting the Best Picture award is because of the extensive use of another country, ang Netherlands.
We’ve seen a lot of local movies shot abroad but “10,000 Hours” amazes us dahil we know that all the shots are with permit and so we are presented with a full view of Amsterdam, hindi lang kanto-kanto.
The Schiphol International Airport, considered the best airport in the world, is there in full view. The famous Amsterdam canals and dykes have been extensively used and also the less known Canal boat hotels kung saan tumira si Gabriel.
If that is not enough, kaloka ang action sequence sa canal involving motorized boats, foreigners and the full view of the city. That alone was a strong reason why it got A sa CEB we tell you.
We also like to commend Direk Joyce’s directing and editing bukod sa pag-temper niya kay Robin. Here, we are presented a different kind of action movie.
Totoo ang sinasabi ni Robin, most of the action sequences here, hindi pa nagawa sa ibang local movies although not the multiple camera technique na first used in a US TV show na may number din ang title, ang 24.
Overall, we are delighted that the producers were brave enough to present a close to life story of what is really happening in Philippine politics, director Joyce was sure enough to handle her very first action movie and Robin for giving us a new facet in his acting.
