Joyce Bernal nakontrol ang akting ni Binoe, lalaban ng Best Actor sa MMFF

Ang festival entry ng N2 Productions, Philippine Film Studios and Viva Films na “10,000 Hours” ang unang nagbigay ng press preview early this week so it gets the honor to be reviewed first in our MMFF review series.

It was a double cinema premiere sa Greenbelt 3 with the press in cinema 1 and most of the celebrity guests in cinema 2. Robin Padilla came with wife Mariel Rodriguez, Alden Richards came stag and late, Bela Padilla came with boyfriend producer Neil Arce plus Boy2 Quizon and close friend Rhian Ramos, Michael de Mesa, Cholo Barretto, Markki Stroem and Winwyn Marquez all came stag and Carla Humphries came with Raymond Gutierrez and Paolo and Bubbles Paraiso.

Wala ang Rehabilitation Czar na si former Sen. Ping Lacson but his family including his wife and children and even Iwa Moto were there in support of the movie.

Inspired from the life story of Sen. Ping, Robin is former police turned military chief turned Philippine senator Gabriel Molina Alcaraz. Mylene Dizon is his wife and playing his four children are Cholo who is also the senator’s chief of staff, Winwyn as the only girl, Markki as the black sheep and a fourth boy we can’t find the name anywhere.

Isang incident noong panahong police pa sila ng kaniyang best friend (Michael de Mesa) then being played by Alden and Joem Bascon, ang kidnapping case ng isang bata sa kagagawan ni Antonio Aquitania who plays the kidnap for ramson head has the real story haunting everyone including the current president played chillingly by Bibeth Orteza so a trumped up case was built against Gabriel.

At ang unlikely help niya, si Isabelle Manahan played by Carla who is actually the girl na nakidnap noon and the TV reporter na si Maya played by Bela.

Honestly, we like “10,000 Hours” in several aspects but most importantly is Robin’s tempered acting. We’ve seen too many Robin movies in the past and in fact, we know Robin as one of the actors na halos iisa ang acting from one movie to the other so hanga kami sa director na si Joyce Bernal that she was able to control Robin’s acting here very effectively.

Of course there is the de-rigueur action sequences for Robin dahil after all he is now the Action King but in several sequences he had to play quiet and cool senator, he does look like a respectable senator and this gives him a good chance na masungkit ang best actor award.

It helps that he gets big support from multi-awarded actors Michael de Mesa and Pen Medina so you know nakakasabay siya.
Speaking of good acting, we’d also like to commend the performances of both Michael and Pen nga dahil they also showed restrained in genre that is always big and loud.

Sa babae, we are rooting for Carla who is so good as Isabelle she’s also a shoo-in for best supporting actress. Second to her is Winwyn who impresses us that she can act pala.
