RAMDAM niyo na ba ang mainit na panahon?
Habang hindi pa idinedeklara ang tag-init season, ibabalik na ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang anti-heat stroke program.
Ayon sa MMDA, muli nilang ipatutupad ang tinatawag nilang “heat stroke break” simula March 15 hanggang May 31.
Ang layunin nito ay para protektahan ang mga field worker mula sa heat exhaustion, stroke, at cramps na dulot ng matinding init.
“We must understand the plight of these traffic enforcers and street sweepers who work under the scorching heat of the sun every day to fulfill their duties and responsibilities,” sey ni MMDA Acting Chairperson Don Artes sa isang pahayag.

Sa ilalim ng polisiya, pinapayagan ng MMDA ang mga naka-duty na traffic enforcers at street sweepers na pansamantalang umalis na muna sa kanilang mga pwesto upang magpahinga at lumilim mula sa sikat ng araw sa loob ng 30 minutes.
Para hindi maantala ang operasyon ng MMDA personnel may nakatakda silang prescribed schedule na susundin.
Traffic enforcers
5 a.m. to 1 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
1 p.m. to 9 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. to 12 p.m.
2 p.m. to 10 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Street sweepers
6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. to 12 p.m.
7 a.m. to 4 p.m. shift – shall observe 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. regular break time
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. shift – heat stroke break at 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sinabi rin ng MMDA na pwedeng magkaroon ng additional 15-minute break ang field personnel sakaling tumaas ng 40 degrees Celsius o higit pa ang heat index sa Metro Manila.
Ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), ang kasalukuyang nagdadala ng mainit at maalinsangan na panahon sa malaking bahagi ng Metro Manila ay ang “easterlies” o warm winds na mula sa Pacific Ocean.
