Clarita Carlos binatikos matapos magkomento sa Bar exam passers: We need more scientists, engineers, doctors, not more lawyers!
KASABAY ng paglalabas ng resulta ng kauna-unahang digital Bar exams nitong April 12 ay ang pagbibigay opinyon ni retired University of the Philippines (UP) Prof. Clarita Carlos ukol dito.
Sa kanyang Facebook account ay ibinahagi niya ang kanyang saloobin ukol sa resulta ng 2020/2021 Bar exams.
Aniya, hindi na raw kailangan pa ng mas maraming abogado ng bansa bagkus mas kailangan nito ng mga doktor, engineers, at scientists.
“Not to rain in anyone’s parade… but, methinks we need more scientists, engineers, doctors… not more LAWYERS!” saad ni Prof. Clarita.
Nag-comment rin si dating Department of Agriculture Sec. Emmanuel Piñol sa post ng retired UP professor.
Aniya, dapat ring madagdagan ang mga agriculturists at aquaculture experts sa bansa dahil kung hindi ay magugutom ang mga nabanggit ni Prof. Clarita.
Hindi naman mapigilan ng mga abogado na mag-react sa pahayag ng dating propesor.
Ayon kay Atty. Gideon V. Peña, kakaunti lang ang bilang ng mga abogado sa bansa laban sa dami ng mga taong nangangailangan ng serbisyo nito.

Bagamat sumasang-ayon ito kay Prof. Clarita na nangangailangan talaga ang bansa ng karagdagang mga doktor, magsasaka, at mga siyentipiko ay kinakailangan rin nito ng mga abogadong magtatanggol at maglilingkod sa bayan.

Ang pinagbasehan ng abogado sa kanyang mga datos ay ang kolum na “Too Many Lawyers” na inilabas sa BusinessWorld noong Setyembre 2016 na isinulat ni Jemy Gatdula.
Marami pang mga netizens ang nag-react sa pahayag ni Prof. Clarita.
“We need lawyers just as much as we need engineers, doctors, and scientists. What we don’t need are highly opinionated people like you who have a need to be right at the expense of discrediting something or someone’s effort. Sorry,” saad ng isang Twitter user.
“Go down from your ivory tower, Prof. [Clarita] Carlos. Spend just one day observing the QC (Quezon City) Hall of Justice, at least one RTC (Regional Trial Court) in the province, the NLRC, and at least one PAO (Public Attorney’s Office) district office. THEN say we have no need for more lawyers,” saad naman ni Atty. Ryan Balisacan.
Isang netizen rin ang nagsabi na nangangailangan rin ang bansa ng mas marami pang educators, novelists, at film directors.

Ayon sa inanunsyo ni Associate Justice at Bar Exam chairperson Marvic Leonen, 8, 241 o 72.28 % ng mga Bar takers ang nakapasa sa first ever digitalized and regionalized 2020/2021 Bar exams.
Ito rin ang pinakamataad na passing rate mula noong 1954 Bar exams.
