AABOT na sa isang libo ang na-adopt na aso ng broadcast journalist na si Korina Sanchez at halos 2,000 na raw ang kanyang na-rescue na mga hayop.

Isa si Korina sa mga kilalang celebrity animal lover at animal welfare advocate, kaya naman talagang naglaan ng panahon para makiisa sa pagtatapos ng International Dog Day celebration ngayong buwan.

Binigyan niya ng bonggang tribute ang isa sa mga fur baby niyang si Kolette na isa sa pinakauna niyang naging alaga. Ipinost niya sa Instagram ang ilang litrato nila ni Kolette at nagkuwento kung paanong naging bahagi na rin ng kanilang pamilya ang aso.

“I didn’t like dogs. Until I met Kolette ten years ago. She was my practice before deciding to have actual kids. Choosing among several pups, once she was put on my lap, life was never the same again. I instantly loved all dogs in the world. And then all animals,” simulang mensahe ni Korina.

Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “Kolette inspired me to rescue maybe 2,000 animals from the streets since ten years ago, and got adopted maybe more than half that number.

“I created a foundation for animal welfare, put up a shelter, held fundraisers from here and abroad —- and have met some of the most amazing dogs who have given us humans so much love and richer lives. Never to be forgotten.

“Thank you Kolette for being the inspiration to caring for your kind, the kind that is better than us human beings in so many ways and occasions. I wish for you to be with me for a very, very long time.

“On International Dog Day, I dedicate this moment to my alpha, my first born, my furever baby and buddy. Wishing for the end of cruelty to, neglect and suffering of dogs anywhere and everywhere. #DogsAreHappiness #AdoptAPetFromK,” pahayag pa ng news anchor.

Nauna rito, ipinagdiwang din ni Ate Koring ang National Aspin Day (Aug. 18) kung saan nag-post siya ng kanyang litrato kasama ang 10 niyang alagang aso.

Aniya sa caption, “I have many rescued dogs and some cats, from the streets to a small shelter I operate. I care for them and get them adopted into loving homes.

“But in this photo are my home pets! Dami ba? If I could have more I would! 3 schnauzers, a pom, a chihuahua, a shihtzu, 2 labs and… 2 aspins I rescued from the streets!

“Princess and Trina all the more convince me that aspins could be the most loving, loyal, smart and resilient dogs you could have in your family.  Life has been so much richer because of my adopted rescues.
