FEELING emotional ang singer-actress na si Geneva Cruz nang makita ang throwback photo ng grupo niya noon, ang Smokey Mountain.
Hindi napigilan ni Geneva na maging sentimental nang muling masilayan ang litratong ipinost sa social media ng OPM icon na si Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.
Ito nga ang picture ng original Smokey Mountain na kuha ilang taon na ang nakararaan. Ibinahagi nga ito ng National Artist for Music sa kanyang IG recently.
Makikita sa photo ang mga batang-batang miyembro ng grupo na kinabibilangan nga ni Geneva, Jeffrey Hidalgo, James Coronel at Tony Lambino na Assistant Secretary na ngayon sa Department of Finance.
“I got teary-eyed when the maestro posted this,” simulang caption ni Geneva sa nasabing litrato.
“We were all so young, we had no idea what we were getting into other than we were just all hungry to sing.
“Smokey Mountain changed our lives forever, and we are forever grateful to have the best mentor/tatay-tatayan…we love you Mr. C,” aniya pa.
Ito naman ang caption ni Maestro Ryan Cayabyab sa kanyang post, “In the summer break of 1989, we ran an audition for young singers between 12-14 years old.
“We found 8 finalists who underwent almost two months of training in singing and dancing. When the training ended, we chose the final members of the group of teeners who ended up as the 1st batch of Smokey Mountain.
“These kids…whew. Look at them then. May mga uhugin pa dyan,” biro pa ng OPM icon.
Ilan sa mga pinasikat na kanta ng Smokey Mountain ay ang “Paraiso,” “Da Coconut Nut,” at “Kailan.”
