HANGGANG ngayon pala ay isa pa ring malaking challenge kay Pia Wurtzbach ang pagkapanalo bilang 2015 Miss Universe.
Limang taon na ang nakararaan nang koronahan siya bilang Miss Universe pero until now ay tina-try pa rin niyang ipakita sa ibang tao that she’s more than just a beauty queen.
“Let’s all be honest, not all people think beauty queens, ‘ah, ano yan, beauty and brains, celebrated.’
“Siyempre, there are still people out there who think beauty queens are just pretty girls, who are onstage, and who really don’t have much going on or much to say,” lahad ng dalaga.
Chika pa ng beauty queen-actress, may mga pagkakataon na hindi rin maituturing na advantage ang korona o titulo ng sa isang pageant.
“Unfortunately, there are still people who believe that, and then so when you introduce yourself to an audience or crowd or people na hindi naman pageant fans, minsan hindi naman advantage yung beauty queen card, e.
“Yung ibang bansa din, hindi rin parang, ‘Ah, I was a Miss Universe from 2015.’ Honestly, they’re not gonna get it.
“Then you have to prove that I am that, but I’m actually am also a lot of things.
“Proving na you are more. You are more than a beauty queen. That’s a challenge to me. Hanggang ngayon, ah,” aniya pa.
Aniya pa, may mga beauty titlist na nakararanas pa rin ng struggle pagkatapos ng kanilang reign, “Lalo na kapag bumalik sila sa professional or corporate world.”
Nabanggit niya ang kapwa beauty queen na si Binibining Pilipinas-International 2019 Patricia Magtanong na isang lawyer.
“I don’t know her personal experience, but sometimes I feel, like, it’s so admirable that she’s an attorney, and that she finished law, and that she’s practicing.
“But then I wonder how that plays out in her real life, in her professional life. Is it an advantage or do people sometimes think na baka beauty pageant questions lang yung kaya niyang sagutin?
“Of course, that’s not what I think. But siyempre, naiisip ko yun not just for her, but all the girls, parang ang hirap magpakilala ulit, ‘no?” lahad pa ni Pia.
Ngunit mas marami pa rin naman daw ang advantage ng pagiging beauty queen kesa sa setbacks. For her part, may mga natutunan siya sa pagsali sa mga pageant na nagagamit niya ngayon sa pang-aras-araw niyang buhay.
“Iba yung mga matututunan mo. Magbabago ka talaga, mag-iibang babae ka talaga.
“Kasi sobrang improved ka na. Lahat ng natututunan mo sa pageant, you bring it with you in your life even after the competition,” pahayag pa ng Kapamilya actress-TV host.
