OFW na may ticket, exit visa payagan nang umuwi sa bansa

UMAPELA si Quezon City Rep. Precious Hipolito Castelo sa Inter-Agency Task Force na payagan ng makauwi sa bansa ang mga overseas Filipino workers na mayroon ng ticket sa eruplano, exit visa at permit mula sa kanilang employer.

Ayon kay Castelo aabot sa 16,000 OFW ang nais na makauwi ng bansa subalit hindi binibigyan ng clearance na makalapag dito ang eruplano na sasakyan ng mga ito.

Sa mga nais umuwi, 8,000 ang nasa Saudi Arabia, 4,000 sa United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 4,000 sa Qatar.

“They have paid for their airfare on their own, or with help from their families, relatives, friends, and their employers. They have been stranded overseas since the coronavirus outbreak. They have been raring to fly home to be with their loved ones. So we can understand that they are now getting desperate,” ani Castelo.

Sa pagdinig ng House committee on Accounts lumalabas na limitado lamang sa 1,000 OFW ang pinapayagan ng IATF na umuwi sa bansa kada araw.

“The IATF and the concerned agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, should now be able to allow the return of more workers and attend to their needs upon arrival,” saad ni Castelo.

Ang limitasyon ay ipinatupad matapos na maipon sa Metro Manila ang may 24,000 OFW na hindi mapauwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya dahil hindi pa lumalabas ang resulta ng kanilang COVID-19 test.

Dapat umano ay asikasuhin din kaagad ng gobyerno ang pagpapauwi sa mga OFW na wala pang ticket at exit visa.
