TUMAAS na ng halos P11,300 ang buwanang sahod ng mga nurse sa ospital ng gobyerno.
Ayon kay House Deputy Speaker at 1Pacman Rep. Mikee Romero batay sa kanyang nakuhang impormasyon ay ipinatupad na ang taas-sahod sa mga nurse na nasa specialty hospital mula Salary Grade 11 sa SG 15.
“They used to get P20,754. But now, they are receiving P32,053 a month, or an increase of P11,299, excluding allowances,” ani Romero.
Bukod dito ay mayroon ding P5,000 hazard pay na natatanggap ang mga nurse kada buwan at dagdag na P1,500 na cost of living allowance.
“The increase in pay came at a time when the country is battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Our nurses play a vital role in attending to infected patients and preventing the spread of the virus. Increasing their benefits is the least we can do for them,” ani Romero.
Ang pagtataas ng sahod ay alinsunod sa desisyon ng Korte Suprema noong 2019 na nagsabi na dapat sundin ng gobyerno ang Philippine Nursing Act of 2002 kung saan nakasaad na ang sahod ng nurse ay hindi dapat bumaba sa Salary Grade 15.
Bago pa man lumabas ang desisyon ng Supreme Court ay naglaan na ang Kongreso ng P3.2 bilyon para sa pagtataas ng sahod ng mga nurse. Isinama ito sa P4.1 trilyong budget ngayong taon.
“Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano made sure funds were included in the budget for carrying out the SC decision. Even before other lawmakers spoke on this issue, the Speaker had assured us that the salary of government nurses would be increased in compliance with the ruling,” ani Romero.
Nagpasalamat naman si Romero sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) at Department of Health (DOH) sa pagpapalabas ng budget.
“The increase will be part of the legacy of the Duterte administration and of Francisco Duque III as secretary of health. Mr. Duque may have had lapses in relation to Covid-19 response measures, but at least the DOH, under him, together with the DBM, has at long last adjusted the nurses’ pay,” dagdag pa ng solon.
