ISANG technical working group ang binuo upang tutukan ang national electrification program ng electric cooperatives at ang rural electrification sa bansa.
Ayon kay House committee on energy chairman at Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco limang porsyento o 1.8 milyong pamilya pa ang walang suplay ng kuryente noong Disyembre 2019.
“Our electric cooperatives are important partners of the government in delivering sufficient, reliable and affordable power even to our farthest barangay,” ani Velasco sa isang pahayag. “Providing total rural electrification translates to economic development.”
Sa pagdinig ng komite, sinabi ni Velasco na kailangang matukoy ng TWG ang mga paraan na kailangan upang malagyan ng suplay ng kuryente ang mga lugar na ito.
“I am really happy that we formed the TWG. Actually, I would rather call it a task force to be able to resolve all the issues and problems concerning our electric cooperatives,” ani Velasco.
“We really have to look at the performance of electric cooperatives to determine which ECs are performing well, which are ailing. This is toward the direction of drafting legislation to address the situation of electric cooperatives and rural electrification.”
