Kabilang dito ang DOH-run Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), UP-National Institutes of Health (NIH), at St. Lukes Medical Center.
“Research studies shall focus on vector reservoir, transmission, viral ecology, pathogenesis, pathophysiology and human, animal or plant host response to these viral pathogens. A significant goal of this bill is the development of diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics against these viral agents,” ani Deloso-Montalla.
Ang panukalang Virology Institute of the Philippines ay magsisilbi ring reference laboratory para sa animal at plant virology studies.
“This will enable our country to be equipped with the knowledge about viral agents in plants and animals and their economic implications to agriculture,” ani Deloso-Montalla.
“The institute is also mandated to become the regulatory authority for the establishment and operation of virology laboratories in the country. It shall be empowered to promulgate rules and regulations regarding virology laboratory operations.”
