HINILING ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez na palawigin ng tatlong buwan ang emergency power na ibinigay kay Pangulong Duterte sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
Ayon kay Rodriguez maghahain ito ng panukala bukas upang palawigin ang batas na inaprubahan ng Kongreso noong Marso 24.
“Such powers are good for three months. Unfortunately, two months after the effectively o the law, the end to the pandemic is not yet in sight. There are still new Covid-19 positive cases being reported every day and the country is not yet fully operating,” ani Rodriguez.
“It is therefore clear that the pandemic will not be over by June 24, 2020. As such, we need to extend the effectivity of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act and give the President additional time to address the pandemic.”
Mat kaparehong panukala rin sa Senado kaya walang nakikitang dahilan si Rodriguez upang magtagal ang pag-apruba rito. Maaari umano itong ipasa bago ang adjournment ng sesyon sa Hunyo 3.
Kung mabibigo ang Kongreso na maipasa ito, kakailanganin pang magpatawag ng special session ni Pangulong Duterte upang magawa ito.
