PINATITIGIL ng National Telecommunication Commission ang ABS-CBN matapos mag-expired ang prangkisa nito.
Nagpadala ang NTC ng cease and desist order sa ABS-CBN Martes upang ihinto na nito ang kanilang television at radio broadcast. Nag-expired ang prangkisa ng istasyon Lunes, Mayo 4.
“The Radio Control Law, Act No. 3846, as amended, provides that “(n)o person, firm, company, association, or corporation shall construct, install, establish, or operate a radio transmitting station, or a radio receiving station used for commercial purposes, or a radio broadcasting station, without having first obtained a franchise therefor from the Congress of the Philippines,” saad ng NTC.
Binigyan ng 10 araw ang ABS-CBN upang sumagot at magpaliwanag kung bakit hindi dapat kunin ang frequency na ibinigay dito ng gobyerno.
Kapag natanggap ng NTC ang sagot ng ABS-CBN ay magtatakda ang ahensya ng hearing kapag natapos na ang ipinatutupad na Enhanced Community Quarantine.
