MALAKI ang maitutulong ng green spaces o lugar na maraming halaman sa mental health ng kabataan at senior citizens.

Pinag-aralan ng mga mananaliksik mula sa University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Center for Health Policy Research, ang datos mula sa California Health Interview Survey na ginawa mula 2011 hanggang 2014.
Kasama rito ang mga impormasyon mula sa 4,538 kabataan at 81,102 nakatatanda.

Gamit ang satellite generated maps, tinukoy ang layo ng bahay ng mga ito sa mga lugar kung saan mapuno o maraming nakatanim na halaman.

Ang mga teenager umano na nakatira hanggang 350 metro ang layo sa mahalamang lugar ay mas mababa ng 36 porsyento ang tyansa na magkaroon ng seryosong psychological distress kumpara sa mga kabataan na malayo rito.

Maganda rin ang epekto ng mahalamang lugar sa mga edad 65 pataas.
