A veteran writer was bashed left and right all because he sort of belittled Judy Ann Santos’ best actress win at the 41st Cairo International Film Festival for “Mindanao”.
The senior writer earned the collective ire of Juday’s fans dahil pinalabas nitong hindi naman malaking festival ang Cairo compared to Cannes, Berlin and Venice film festivals. That said, the fans of Juday took it to mean that the writer was CONDESCENDING lalo pa’t he punctuated his item with “pero ok na rin ‘yan”.
Umusok sa galit ang fans ni Juday at kung anu-ano raw ang pinagsasabi nila against the reporter. When asked about by another senior writer it in a solo presscon, Juday was cool.
“I guess may kani-kaniyang opinion ang mga tao. Nirerespeto ko naman ‘yon. At ini-expect ko naman na hindi lahat magiging happy. Ganoon naman tayong mga Pilipino. Kapag lahat masaya may isang hindi (masaya), or may isang itsa-challenge ka. But it is totally fine. I understand, I appreciate pero hindi ako…I am not expecting anymore,” she said.
“The appreciation alone of my co-workers, from all of you, from my family, that’s more than enough. Ayoko nang mag-isip ng negativity. ‘Yung makapagbigay lang ng parangal sa Pilipinas ay sobrang sapat na talaga sa akin,” she added.
But she is praying that the movie makes it at the box-office of the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival, “Kapag kumita ang pelikulang ito, napakalaking bonus na Christmas gift na iyon. Happy ako na na-appreciate siya sa ibang bansa. Sana ma-appreciate din siya rito kumita man o hindi. Pero siyempre gusto ko siyang kumita para mabawi naman ni direk Brillante Mendoza ang pinag-produce niya at para makagawa pa siya ng mas maraming pelikula.”
