SEA Games: Matapos ang apat na subok, first canoe gold nabingwit

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – MATAPOS ang apat na subok sa biennial meet ay nakuha na ng Pilipinas ang gintong medalya sa canoe.

Walang pagsidlan ang tuwa ni Hermie Macaranas nang daigin sa pabilisan ng pagsagwan ang mga katunggali mula Myanmar, Vietnam at Indonesia Sabado ng tanghali sa Malawaan Park dito.

Tinapos ng Filipino SEA Games veteran at 24-anyos ang 200m men’s canoe singles competition sa bilis na 43.60 segundo. Kinabig ni Burmese Hlaing Win Myo ang pilak (43.75) habang nagkasya sa tanso si Vietnamese Duc Duong Anh.

“Napakasaya napaka-high performance yung nangyari sa amin ngayon history,” sabi ni Macaranas na ibinulsa rin ang silver medal sa 1000m singles at 200m doubles kasama si Ojay  Fuentes. “First time, gold and two silver. ‘Di ‘ko ma-imagine, ‘di ko ma-describe sa kahit anong salita.”

“Supportive lahat sila sa akin so ginawa ko yung best ko para makuha yung nararapat para sa amin.  Umpisa pa lang nasa training pa lang  ‘yun na nasa isip ko, ang manalo.” pagtatapos ni Macaranas.
