If there’s one thing that separates newbie actor Javi Benitez from other aspiring actors, it would be discipline.
Grabe ang disiplina ni Javi sa kanyang sarili, “I haven’t had softdrink since I was a kid,” he declared.
“Ang story noon is when I was 7 years old at nag-travel kami abroad, I mixed three sodas. Sobrang sumakit ang tiyan ko. After that hindi na ako uminom ng softdrink. I was with my family. Sumuka ako sa banyo and I felt so weak,” he narrated.
With his to-die-for bod, complemented by a towering height of 6 feet, Javi shared how he does his diet.
“Depende sa kailangan. Kapag heavy training, I carbo-load. Pero kapag kailangan maganda ang katawan, high protein and low carb,” he said.
Nagamit ni Javi ang kanyang strong stamina through everyday workout, calisthenics, Filipino martial arts, Muay Thai sa movie niyang ginagawa, ang “Kid Alpha One” which is replete with hardcore action scenes.
He also joined the cast of Angel Locsin’s The General’s Daughter.
Javi was into racing when he was a kid, “I get discipline from sports. I am really a competitive person especially from racing. You really have to set aside time to be on the track.
“I topped racing noong college. I was racing for seven years. I started when I was 12 or 13. Go kart siya.
I started sa speed zone then sa Carmona. Discipline and focus talaga kasi sometimes when you’re racing, ‘yung small fraction of a second,” he said.
Did he figure in an accident? “Wala, actually, naaksidente ako sa football. Tinamaan ang kamay ko at na-fracture. Sa racing, nangyari sa akin, we were entering the first corner. He wanted to pass, nu’ng nag-turn ako, ‘yung wheels namin dumikit. Siya lumipad. He broke his collar bone. Ako naman may gasgas lang. Na-shock ako talaga pero continue pa rin.”
