Why PH is 2nd wort place for workers?

IN a survey result released by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) showed the Philippines is the second worst place in the world for workers.

Algeria naman ang una na sinundan naman ng Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Kazakstan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey at Zimbabwe.

Nasabi ito ng ITUC dahil sa sunod-sunod na insidente ng pagpatay, pagdukot at pananakot sa hanay ng mga union organizer at mga manggagawa sa nakaraang taon.  Ito ang paraan ng mga union busters para mapigilan at buwagin ang pag-uunyon.

More and more workers nowadays are trying to organize a union so  they can bargain with their employers for better pay and higher benefits. They also organize themselves to protect themselves from abusive employers.

Lalong tumindi ang ranking ng bansa dahil ito sa malawak na “End of Contract” or Endo temporary work arrangement sa private and public sector. Dahil laganap ang Endo, maraming manggagawa ang walang asenso, walang kinabukasan at forever na maliit ang sahod dahil hanggang five months lang ang trabaho nila.

Dahil din sa sunod-sunod na unsafe workplace incidents that killed and injured workers while working bolstered our reputation as worst place for workers.

Laganap din ang mga insidente ng hindi pagsunod ng mga employers at negosyante na magbigay ng minimum wage at pagbigay ng social protection benefits gaya ng SSS, Pagibig at PhilHealth.

Dahil mahina ang Department of Labor and Employment sa pagpapatupad ng mga labor laws, tinitiis na lamang ng mga manggagawa ang mga pang-abuso, manatili lang sa trabaho at maitagu-yod ang pamilya.
