Freelance workers need protection

Alan Tanjusay - April 23, 2019 - 12:15 AM

IN this day and age of globalization and internet, many businesses tend to hire freelance workers to meet production and stay competitive.

However, there is no law that specifically cover freelance work and those working under this scheme.

Freelancers require contract between them and the contractor prior to performing
the work. Pero maraming mga kompanya o employer ang ayaw pumasok sa kontrata, and would rather look for someone else who does not ask for contract.

Hindi rin sila covered ng batas sakaling sila ay maaksidente, magkasakit o na-disable in the course of performing their work.

It is high time for the Department of Labor and Employment to create policy and regulation dahil lumalawak at lumalaki ang bilang ng freelance jobs at freelance workers dala na rin ng paglago ng Internet at Mobile data tech-
nology.
