Hindi na magagawa ni Liza ang bagong movie version ng Darna dahil sa tinamo niyang injury.
“I have decided to withdraw from the project of Darna,” sabi ni Liza.
“I fractured my right index finger, as in nadurog po ‘yong buto, the top part, the bottom, also my joint. Hindi ko po siya nagagalaw,” ayon kay Liza.
“I’ve been undergoing therapy. I had surgery twice na po. We’ve been trying to fix it, but lately, these past few weeks, we’ve decided na maybe it’s best if I don’t push through with it, because baka maging hindrance lang po siya for me to be able to do the stunts properly,” ani Liza sa isang panayam.
Ayon sa dalaga, sumailalim na siya sa dalawang surgery ngunit hindi pa rin niya maigalaw nang normal ang kanyang kamay.
“It’s a hindrance for me being able to be confident in doing the scenes na alam kong may hesitations ako when doing it, because I have to take care of the finger,” sabi ni Liza.
“I couldn’t do my stunt trainings because we had to take care of the finger,” sey ni Liza.
“Of course, we were still hoping that I would be able to do the project, pero because of the injury, I couldn’t do my stunts. So how would I be able to practice and ready myself as well?” aniya pa.
Nakataktang sumailailim si Liza sa third surgery para tanggalin naman ang metal plates na inilagay sa kanyang katawan.
“I really wanted to do ‘Darna.’ I invested so much time, so much effort. Physically, I felt like I was ready before the incident. I don’t want the project to suffer just because I don’t feel like I could give Darna the justice she deserves. Emotionally, that’s why I decided to withdraw from the project. I felt like hindi ako buo anymore to do ‘Darna.’
“I was scared na I wouldn’t look as good doing my stunts because of the way my finger looks, and I’m not sure na babalik siya sa dati, na I would be able to make a fist.
“Of course I wanted to give my management, my bosses, my best Darna that they could possibly have. But I kind of felt insecure about it na rin,” paliwanag ng dalaga.
Nalungkot naman ang ABS-CBN at Star Cinema sa pag-atras ni Liza sa “Darrna” pero nirerespeto nila ang desisyon ng dalaga.
Pero ayon sa Star Cinema, itutuloy pa rin nila ang pagsasapelikula ng “Darna” matapos umatras si Liza bilang lead star sa pelikula.
