PABOR din si 2018 Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray sa pagsali ng mga transwoman sa mga beauty pageant. Isa sa mga nakalaban ng Pinay beauty queen sa nakaraang Miss Universe ang transgender woman na si Miss Spain Angela Ponce na gumawa nga ng kasaysayan bilang kauna-unahang transwoman na rumampa sa nasabing international beauty pageant. Sa nakaraang homecoming concert para sa pagbabalik ni Catriona sa bansa titled “Raise Your Flag for Catriona,” natanong siya ni Vice Ganda sa interview portion ng event na ginanap sa Araneta Coliseum kung pabor ba siya sa pagsali ng mga transgender sa Binibining Pilipinas at sa iba pang beauty pageant. “Of course for Binibini it is the sole discretion of Madam (Stella Araneta), but for my point of view I see nothing wrong with it because again that’s what we stand for. “We are moving to a more inclusive and more respectful competition in the world of pageantry, so why not open it up in that way? Mas masaya din feeling ko,” paliwanag ng dalaga. Nagpasalamat din ang ikaapat na Pinay Miss Universe sa LGBTQ dahil sa pagsuporta sa kanya. “Thank you for showing the Philippines as a shining beacon across the world how we could love the LGBTQ community, how we are beginning to accept and not just tolerate the community, and that we are opening our arms to everyone and I hope that other countries will see that and want to replicate it too,” aniya.
