Mga babae hindi mawawalan ng trabaho sa extended maternity leave
HINDI umano mawawalan o mahihirapang pumasok ng trabaho ang mga babae dahil sa 105-araw na expanded maternity leave.
Ayon kay Makati City Rep. Luis Campos sa kasalukuyan ay marami ng kumpanya ang nagbibigay ng lagpas sa 60 araw na maternity leave with pay.
“We do not see the extended maternity benefit discouraging the employment of women. Men and women will continue to get hired as long as they have the skills, knowledge and personal attributes needed by employers,” ani Campos.
Ayon kay Campos ang Accenture na mayroong 50,000 empleyado at isa sa pinakamalaking employer sa bansa, ay nagbibigay ng 120 araw na maternity leave with pay.
“There is really nothing unusual about the new law, as it merely aligns our maternity leave benefit with the global standard that entered into force 16 years ago,” dagdag pa ni Campos.
Sa ilalim ng International Labor Organization Convention 183 ang maternity leave ay dapat 14 na linggo.
