IPINALABAS na nitong Miyerkoles ang biopic ng dating crybaby-police general, ang namuno noon sa hanay ng Kapulisan sa bansa whose promise to fight criminality tooth and nail was simply a dream that never came true.
Tumatakbo sa isang pambansang puwesto si Bato dela Rosa sa ilalim ng administration party. At hindi pa man opisyal na nagsisimula (sa Feb. 12 pa) ang campaign period, Bato is literally like a stone found everywhere.
Kung hindi kami ipagkakanulo ng aming eyesight, Bato sat as one of the judges sa katatapos lang na 47th Miss Intercontinental kung saan iniuwi ng ating kinatawan ang korona as the first Pinoy titleholder. Kung hindi subliminal campaigning ‘yon on a supposedly non-political occasion, ewan kung ano ang maaaring ibansag du’n.
As if his presence wasn’t enough, eto nga ang biopic ni Bato na binigyang buhay ni Robin Padilla. It’s no surprise that Robin was handpicked to breathe life into the character, kaalyado rin kasi ito ng kasalukuyang pamunuan.
Pinalagan ni Robin ang public opinion that Bato’s biopic is a propaganda material. Wala raw sangkap na politika ito.
Maniniwala na sana kami if the element of timing to the film showing. Election period na, ilang araw mula ngayon the streets will be filled with political candidates sakay ng mga pickup vehicles honking their horns which are no match to the sirens of firetrucks.
Had the Bato film showing been delayed, at least after the polls ay maniniwala pa kami sa kaeklayang walang layunin ang pelikulang ito na isulong ang kandidatura ng nasabing senatoriable, ensuring his victory in the end (good luck!).
Magpakatotoo naman sana si Robin. Kung nagkataon bang halaw ang pelikula sa buhay ng isang opposition or an independent candidate, hindi pa rin ba isang propaganda movie ‘yon?
If the Bato biopic, as Robin claims, is NOT a propaganda film, puwede bang sabihing PROPAPOGI ‘yon?
And yes, before we forget, may tinatawag na cinematic license.
Speaking of which, facts are distorted. It’s not necessarily a 100% faithful interpretation.
