Transwoman hindi pinayagang ma-nominate sa pagka-best actress

Nagwagi bilang best actor si Iyah Mina for his role sa “Mamu: And A Mother Too” sa GEMS (Guild of Educators, Mentors and Students) Awards or Hiyas ng Sining Awards. Nagwagi namang best actress si Glaiza de Castro for “Liway.”
Baka may magtatalak na naman at magmura kaya kami na ang magsasabing maghunos-dili kayo.
Nang magwagi kasing best actress si Iyah for the same movie sa isang independent award-giving body at nasulat ito ay nagwala ang isang nondescript character actress.
Nagalit ang aktres-aktresan na feeling sikat at uminit ang ulo at nagmura dahil sa headline na “Dating beki tinalong Best Actress sina Rufa Mae, Meryl, CHAI, Loisa, Eula.”
We heard that Iyah’s director and line producer requested a GEMS officer na ilagay si Iyah sa best actress category. Kaya lang ay hindi siya napagbigyan at sa best actor pa rin siya na-nominate.
Kasi naman, ang paniwala ng GEMS official ay hindi pa naman operada si Iyah at isa pa rin itong transgender.
