UMABOT na ng P5 milyon ang nalikom na pondo ng mga kongresista para maging reward sa makapagtuturo sa pumatay kay Ako Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe.
Ayon kay Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez posibleng tumaas pa ang reward money dahil mayroon pang mga kongresista na nais na magbigay ng ambag upang agad na malutas ang kaso.
“As of now 153 Congressmen/women na ang nag-ambag kaya P5 million na ang nalikom na bounty money,” ani Benitez na nanguna sa pangangalap ng pondo.
Si Batocabe at kanyang pulis na bodyguard ay pinagbabaril habang namimigay ng regalo sa mga senior citizen at taong may kapansanan sa Brgy. Burgos, Daraga, Albay noong Sabado.
“Puwedeng umabot ng P25 milyon kasi may commitment ang Ako Bicol na P15 million, P2 million sa provincial government ng Albay at sa House (of Representatives) at least P30,000 each of over 100 congressmen and counting,” ani Benitez.
Si Batocabe ang pangulo ng Party-list Coalition Inc., at nasa huling termino bilang kongresista. Siya ay tumatakbo sa pagka-alkalde ng Daraga, Albay sa 2019 elections.
Bumuhos ang pakikiramay sa mga naulila ni Batocabe.
Ayon sa mga Bicolano na sina House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr., at Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman hindi makalilimutan ng Albay ang mga ginawa ni Batocabe.
“I share the outrage, the pain and the shock of my fellow Bicolanos over the death of my friend and colleague, Rodel Batocabe… The laws he had authored and the programs he had initiated will continue to make a difference in the lives of the people he had selflessly served long after he is gone,” ani Andaya.
Sinabi naman ni Lagman na dapat ay matigil na ang kultura ng karahasan. “Politics must not be stained by the blood of politicians and partisans. It must be confined to the confrontation of ideas and programs in the tranquil fora of mutual respect and civility. The culture of violence must be forthwith eliminated, instead of being perpetuated, condoned, and encouraged by those in power.”
