INANUNSYO na ang masusuwerteng future filmmakers na nakapasok sa Top 20 ng kauna-unahang video-making competition ng Star Magic, ang “Lights, Camera, Magic”.
Sa kabuuang 220 amateurs ngunit masasabing globally competitive video creators, 20 lang ang napili para maglaban-laban sa susunod na round ng deliberation. Bukod sa mga sumaling Pinoy mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng Pilipinas, may mga nag-submit din ng entry mula sa Canada, UAE, Thailand, Libya, US at Germany.
Judged based on originality, creative and technical execution and impact, the 20 shortlisted videos range from drama, thriller, rom-com, horror, science fiction, and musical. Ang screening committee ay binubuo nina Piolo Pascual, Nash Aguas, Khalil Ramos, Janus del Prado, Ketchup Eusebio, Renee Dominique, at Star
Magic head Johnny Manahan.
Narito ang lucky top 20 videos: “Ako,” “Anino,” “Antipara,” “Best Friends,” “Contrition As A Forceful Act,” “Hello, DJ Eros?” “Hello Nanay,” “Isang Gabi Lang ‘Yon,” “Karamay,” “Kasarinlan,” “Liwanag,” “Malampasan Mo Sana Ang Sakit.”
Pasok din ang “Napano Ka, Arna?” “Ngawa,” “Oh, Aking Katoto,” “Pala’u” “Plot Twist,” “Static,” “Viral Kids,” at ang “Walang Mali.”
Ayon kay Piolo sa presscon ng LCM, ang Final 3 finalists na kukunin mula sa top 20 ay pipiliin via online voting at sa magiging desisyon ng LCM jury na binubuo ng top executives ng ABS-CBN tulad nina Leo
Katigbak, Head of ABS-CBN’s Special Projects and Film Restoration; Ronald Arguelles head of Channel Management-Cinema One and Velvet channels at Ice Idanan, independent film director (Sakaling Hindi Makarating, Ania ‘ti nagan mo at Limang Libo).
LCM mentors and directors JP Habac (I’m Drunk I Love You, Maria and Oktopus and upcoming movies Sakaling Maging Tayo), Victor Villanueva (Patay Na Si Hesus, Kusina Kings, Ang Nanay Ni Justin Barber and Abot-kamay) and Mikhail Red (Birdshot, Neomanila and Rekorder and upcoming movies Eerie and Block Z) are also taking part in the selection of the Final 3.
Nagsimula na ang botohan nitong nakaraang Linggo sa lightscameramagic.ph. Ang tatlong finalists ay tatanggap ng P50,000 cash at mabibigyan ng chance na ma-develop ang kanilang entry sa isang 15-minute short video for digital entertainment.
Makakatuwang din nila sa pagbuo ng kanilang short film ang mga LCM mentor with Star Magic artists as their videos’ headlining stars.
