P2K na allowance ng senior citizen isinulong

ISINULONG ng isang mambabataa na gawing P2,000 ang buwanang allowance ng mga mahihirap na senior citizen sa harap naman ng pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin.

Sinabi ni Makati City Rep. Luis Campos Jr., sa susunod na taon ay gagastos ang gobyerno ng P23.18 bilyon para sa P500 buwanang allowance ng 3.8 milyong senior citizen.

“The target is to extend the monthly subsidy to an additional 800,000 impoverished seniors. This explains the 20-percent or P3.9-billion increase in the allocation,” ani Campos.

Sinabi ni Campos na mula noong 2010 ay hindi na nadagdagan ang P500 buwanang allowance kaya dapat na itong itaas sa P2,000. Dapat ay pinag-aaralan umano kung sapat pa ang halagang ito kada dalawang taon pero hindi ito nangyari.

“Congress has to move quickly in raising the pocket money for hard up seniors who are now extremely vulnerable to hunger due to runaway food price inflation.”

Kung hindi umano kayang ibigay sa lahat ng senior citizen ang P2,000 ay maaaring simulan ito sa mga edad 70 pataas.

“An allowance of P2,000 per month, or P24,000 per annum, would serve as a bigger helping hand to needy seniors at least 70 years old and who have absolutely no one else to turn to for financial aid.”
