Palparan guilty sa kidnapping ng 2 UP students

NAPATUNAYANG guilty ng Malolos Regional Trial Court (RTC) si dating Major General Jovito Palparan sa mga kasong kidnapping at serious illegal detention kaugnay ng pagkawala ng mga estudyante ng University of the Philippines (UP) na sina Sherlyn Cadapan at Karen Empeno noong 2006.

Ipinalabas ang desisyon ni Malolos RTC before Judge Alexander Tamayo.

Bukod kay Palparan, napatunayan ding guilty sa krimen sina Lt. Col. Felipe Anotado, Jr. at Staff Sgt. Edgardo Osorio.

Nagpalabas naman ng warrant ang korte laban sa isa pang akusado na si M/Sgt. Rizal Hilario, na nananatiling pinaghahanap.

Pinatawan sina Palparan, Anotado at Osorio ng reclusion perpetua, o 20 taon at isang araw hanggang 40 taong pagkakabilanggo at inatasang magbayad ng P100,000 para sa civil indemnity at P200,000 para sa moral damages para sa kada count.

Ipinag-utos din ni Tamayo na ilipat na sina Palparan sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Kasalukuyang nakakulong si Palparan sa Army Custodial Center sa Fort Bonifacio sa Taguig City dahil sa kanyang pagkakasangkot sa pagdukot at illegal detention nina Empeno at Cadapan.

Dinukot ng mga armadong kalalakihan ang mga estudyate sa isang bahay sa Barangay San Miguel, Hagonoy, Bulacan, noong Hunyo 26, 2006.
