3K huli sa paglabag sa ban sa ‘single drivers’ sa  Edsa

TINATAYANG 3,000 driver ang hinuli ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa unang araw ng isang linggong dry run ng panukalang high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) traffic scheme.

Sinabi ni MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia na umabot sa kabuuang 2,953 driver ang lumabag sa bagong traffic scheme.Idinagdag ni Garcia na naging banayad naman ang daloy ng trapiko sa kahabaan ng Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) sa umaga ng rush hour.

“Nag observe tayo ng more than 30 mins, medyo maganda yung takbo during those hours (We observed for more than 30 minutes, the flow of traffic was smooth during those hours),”sabi ni Garcia.

Inamin din ni Garcia na naging mabagal ang trapiko sa kahabaan ng C5 sa isinagawang dry run mula alas-7 ng umaga hanggang alas-7 ng umaga.

Sinabi ni Garcia na posibleng ipatupad din ng MMDA ang polisiya sa C5. bagamat hindi kagaya ng isinasagawa sa Edsa na ban ang mga single driver tuwing rush hour.

“We are not encouraging people to share ride with a stranger but with their family, neighbors, community,” sabi ni Garcia.

Idinagdag ni Garcia na tuloy ang target na implementasyon ng MMDA ng HOV sa Agosto 23 sa kabila ng mga kritisismo mula sa senador.

Sa ilalim ng scheme, bawal ang mga ‘driver-only’ na sasakyan sa kahabaan ng Edsa mula alas-7 ng umaga hanggang alas-10 ng umaga at mula alas-6 ng gabi hanggang alas-9 ng gabi.
