UMAPELA si House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., sa publiko na igalang ang privacy ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Benjo Benaldo na posible umanong tinangkang magpakamatay sa loob ng kanyang kuwarto sa Kamara de Representantes.
Sinabi ni Belmonte na may indikasyon na tinangkang kitilin ni Benaldo ang kanyang sariling buhay. “Right now the incident continues to be thoroughly investigated and I hope that we all respect the privacy of the family at this time and avoid any other speculations.
Benjo has not disclosed his reasons for what happened and may do so at the right time,” aniya. “He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, which now indicates he attempted to take his own life.”
Noong Huwebes ng gabi ay isinugod si Benaldo sa New Era Hospital matapos na magtamo ng tama ng bala sa dibdib.
Naniniwala naman si House Deputy Majority Leader Miro Quimbo na dapat hayaan ang mga pulis na tapusin ang kanilang imbestigasyon.
Si Benaldo ay natalo sa nakaraang eleksyon at kamakailan ay nasangkot sa kontrobersya ng umano’y pambubugbog sa kanyang asawang si Diana Menezes.
