INUTUSAN ng House committee on justice ang Bureau of Internal Revenue na bumuo ng team na mag-iimbestiga kung nagbayad ng tamang buwis si Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Sa pagdinig kahapon, sinabi ng chairman ng komite na si Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali kay BIR Deputy Commissioner Arnel Guballa na mahalaga ang magiging resulta ng imbestigasyon sa isinasagawang pagdinig ng impeachment complaint laban kay Sereno.
“We asked from you a report, a summary report, that will present all of these incomes, vis-a-vis tax payments. Perhaps an investigation is the proper mode of obtaining all of these information in a comprehensive manner,” ani Umali.
Binigyan lamang ng 12 araw o hanggang Pebrero 19 ang BIR team upang tapusin ang imbestigasyon nito dahil nais ng komite na tapusin na ang pagdinig sa huling bahagi ng buwan o sa unang linggo ng Marso.
Sinabi ng vice chairman ng komite na si Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso na simple lamang ang nais nilang malaman. “How much income, magkano binayad na tax, simple lang.”
Ayon kay Guball si Sereno ay kumikita ngayon ng mahigit sa P230,000 kada buwan.
