P27.1M illegal cash incentives ng MWSS

Ibinasura ng Commission on Audit ang apela ng mga opisyal ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System na payagan ang P27.11 milyong cash incentives na ibinigay nito sa kanilang mga empleyado noong 2012.
Sa tatlong pahinang desisyon, sinabi ni COA chair Michael Aguinaldo at commissioners Jose Fabia at Isabel Agito na lagpas na sa anim na buwan bago nakapaghain ang mga opisyal ng MWSS ng apela kaya hindi na nila ito diringgin.
Ang apela ay ginawa nina MWSS Administrative and General Services manager Florendo Batasin Jr. at Legal Services Department manager Darlina Uy.
Noong Enero 2015, nagpalabas ang COA ng notice of disallowance sa P14.72 milyong cost of living allowance, P8.71 milyong representation and transportation allowance, at P3.68 milyong amelioration allowance na ibinigay ng MWSS sa kanilang mga opisyal at empleyado dahil wala umanong dahilan upang bigyan sila ng mga ito.
Noong Marso ay ibinasura rin ng COA ang mosyon ng MWSS Regulatory Office kaugnay ng hindi otorisadong pagbibigay ng P82.2 milyong benepisyo sa mga opisyal at empleyado nito.
Ayon sa COA maaaring hindi na masingil ng gobyerno ang labis na benepisyo subalit ang mga opisyal ng ahensya na nag-apruba nito ay maaari pa ring papanagutin.
