Pangkulay ng buhok mula UK; nakakabaog

Mabibili sa bansa ang mga pangkulay ng buhok na ipinagbabawal na ibenta sa United Kingdom dahil sa halo nitong kemikal na nakababaog at maaaring makaapekto sa sanggol sa sinapupunan.
Ayon sa EcoWaste Coalition ang halong sodium perborate sa ilang hair dye ay maaari ring makasira sa mata at nakapagdudulot ng respiratory irritation.
Ayon sa European Union-Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Dangerous, ipinagbawal ng UK ang pagbebenta ng “Bigen Permanent Powder Hair Colour,” “Blasol Powder Hair Colouring Formula” at “JR Beauty Organics Permanent Powder Hair Colour” dahil sa halo nitong sodium perborate.
“The said hair dyes do not comply with the EU Cosmetic Products Regulation, which has listed sodium perborate among the substances banned for use in cosmetic products due to their classification as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction,” ani Thony Dizon, coordinator ng EcoWaste.
Sinabi ni Dizon na mabibili ang mga produktong ito sa iba’t ibang pamilihan, malaki man o maliit kaya agad nila itong ipinagbigay-alam sa Food and Drugs Administration.
“As the process of getting sodium perborate listed might take some time, we encourage the FDA to urge concerned cosmetics manufacturers to voluntarily switch to safe alternatives to sodium perborate in order to protect human health, particularly maternal and fetal health,” saad ng EcoWaste.
Ipinanukala ng EcoWaste na isama ang sodium perborate sa listahan ng mga kemikal na ipinagbabawal ihalo sa mga ipinagbabawal na ibenta.
“Sainsbury’s and Tesco, two of UK’s retail giants, have taken hairs dyes with sodium perborate off their store shelves. In the interest of consumer health and safety, we hope that local retailers will follow suit,” saad ni Dizon.
