THIS time it’s for real na talaga. Yes, dire-diretso na ang pagbabalik-showbiz ng mahal naming mega-couple na sina Donna Villa and Direk Carlo J. Caparas dahil after ng successful comeback film nilang “Angela Merkado” starring Andi Eigenmann ay malapit na ring umere sa TV5 ang pinakasikat na fantaseryeng Ang Panday topbilled by our dear Richard Gutierrez.
Ang Viva Communications, Inc. ang may hatid nito sa TV5 and they will start airing on Feb. 29 – LEAP YEAR, di ba?
“Normally kasi, ang remakes ng mga serye ay nagsisimula from the bottom. Kung mataas na nagwakas ito sa first salvo, pag ni-remake na babalik sa bottom ang level. Pero itong Panday pataas nang paatas ang level. Kumbaga, ngayong ni-remake ulit natin, kung saang level siya nagwakas noon, magli-leap ito to the next level lalo pa’t Leap Year ngayon at mag-start talaga ang airing natin on February 29.
“Di ba’t sabi nga nila that a Leap Year comes every four years, ibig sabihin siguro nila four levels ang ili-leap nito pataas. Ha-hahaha!” biro ni Direk Carlo J. nang tsikahin namin sa Plaza Ibarra sa Timog, Q.C. the other day.

Richard here plays the revered character of the Pinoy superhero Flavio, a blacksmith who rose to fame via four blockbuster movies headlined by the late King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe, Jr., which was followed by three highly successful installments.
Senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, meanwhile, had their own versions – “Dugong Panday” in 1993 and “Hiwaga Ng Panday” in 1998 respectively. Sen. Bong did two more “Panday” projects, “Ang Panday” (2009) and “Ang Panday 2” (2011 Metro Manila Film Festival) for GMA Films.
This year’s TV remake on the Kapatid network, however, will have multi-awarded Mac Alejandre as the helm with the genius, Direk Carlo himself, acting as creative consultant ng said project.
Viva and TV5’s “Panday” will trace Flavio’s tale from birth to his adventures as a blacksmith who goes up against arch nemesis Lizardo and his evil cohorts with the use of his sword that has supernatural powers.
Direk Carlo says that in the modernized version, viewers will discover that Flavio is a foundling and that he has a brother. Makakasama rin dito ang child wonder nating si Alonzo Muhlach, Sam Pinto, Jasmine Curtis, Bangs Garcia, Empoy, Chicser’s Ranz Kyle, CJ Caparas, Ara Mina, among others.
Speaking of Donna and Carlo J., sobrang love talaga ang mag-asawang ito ng buong showbiz industry lalong-lalo na ang members of the entertainment media. Everytime na meron silang event ay sugod agad ang kafatiran dahil lahat sila ay pinasasaya ng mag-asawa.
