Soltones babawi sa NCAA Season 91 women’s beach volley

PILIT babawi si reigning Most Valuable Player Gretchel Soltones para sa two-time defending champion San Sebastian Lady Stags sa pagpareha kay Dangie Encarnacion sa paglalaro nito sa 91st NCAA women’s beach volleyball tournament sa Boardwalk ng Subic Bay Free Port Zone sa Olongapo, Zambales sa Pebrero 10-15.

Matatandaang nabigo ang Baste sa nakalipas na women’s indoor volleyball finals kontra St. Benilde Lady Blazers kaya atat si Soltones na ibuhos ang ngitngit sa pagkakataong ito sa sandcourt. Si Bea Camielle Uy ang katerno niya noong isang taon nang magreyna rin ang Quiapo-based school sa Subic din.

“Siya ang lalaro,” sambit kahapon ni San Sebastian coach at athletic director Rogelio Gorayeb sa power-hitting na si Soltones, na siya ring kasalukuyang back-to-back NCAA indoor volleyball MVP. Hinirit ni Gorayeb na reserve si libero Alyssa Eroa.

Babasagin din ng Lady Stags ang pagbuhol sa Perpetual Help Lady Altas sa league-record na tig-apat na korona sa ika-14 na edisyon ng sport sa liga. Malamang magbigay ng astig na laban sa Baste ang Perpetual sa pagpapares nina Jam Suyat at Vhima Condada.

Dededepensa naman ang St. Benilde Blazers sa men’s division ng torneo na ang host ay ang Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers ni Paul Supan at suportado ng Lighthouse, Bayfront Hotel, Subic Park Hotel, Moonbay Villas, LGR, Mikasa, SBMA at ABS-CBN Sports & Action.

Patok ang three-peat titleholder Emilio Aguinaldo College Brigadiers sa boys junior level.
