Calalay hindi sisibakin ng Kamara

Hindi susundin ni Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., ang utos ng Office of the Ombudsman na sibakin si dating Quezon City Councilor Reynaldo Calalay, na ngayon ay kongresista na.
Sinabi ni Belmonte na hindi saklaw ng ipinalabas na dismissal order ng Ombudsman si Calalay na ngayon ay miyembro na ng Kamara de Representantes.
“We have no intention of removing him as Congressman at this stage,” ani Belmonte. “I believe that Congressman Calalay will go to CA to ask for a TRO (temporary restraining order) because the decision of the Ombudsman is immediately executory.”
Si Calalay ay napatunayang guilty sa kasong Falsification of Officials Documents, Serious Dishonesty, Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service at Grave Misconduct matapos na mapatunayan ng Ombudsman na nagpapasahod ito ng ghost employees.
Bukod kay Calalay ay sinibak din si Councilor Roderick Paulate kaugnay ng kaparehong kaso.
Pinapasahod umano ng dalawa ang may 60 ghost employees mula P5,000 hanggang 10,000 kada buwan bilang mga field inspectors, district coordinators at office aide.
Kasama sa pasura sa dalawa ang pagbabawal na makahawak sila ng ano pa mang posisyon sa gobyerno.
